What I’m trying to do
Hi, I have some large PDF files saved on my vault (more than 300MB per file) and when I want to open some of them inside Obsidian, I only get blank pages (at best). When I scroll down and up, some pages sometimes appear. The same thing happens when I link to a page in the PDF.
The thing is that PDF size isn’t the case here as I have for example two PDFs of the same size (350MB) and one of them is opening instantly and the second one just shows blank pages as mentioned above. Even smaller file (150MB) couldn’t be showed at all.
Things I have tried
I disabled all plugins and restarted app, but issue still exist.
I checked the CPU usage when opening these files with Obsidian. It increased by 7% while opening note with that PDF, but if I wouldn’t scroll within that file, then Obsidian just stopped loading it (0% usage of CPU). Even if I use scroll to move within PDF, that doesn’t guarantee it would load.
I think it looks like Obsidian isn’t using capabilities of my CPU to load those files.
I’ve noticed that some people had huge CPU usage while using Obsidian but I in the other hand have problem with that Obsidian isn’t using my CPU enough.
Smaller PDFs (less than 80MB) doesn’t have that issue at all.
Opening Obsidian in admin mode helps with loading time of some of the affected PDFs but when I tried to open them again after few minutes, issue was back (still showing just blank pages).
I checked that issue with my friend who uses Linux and he doesn’t have such issue using the same PDFs. Obsidian on his computer takes much more usage of his CPU.
I can provide debug logs if needed (I would need instruction to do that).
Do you have any ideas what could be the solution to my problem?
