PDF export: allow a different name as metadata title

Use case or problem

Currently, an exported PDF gets the title “Obsidian”. This is problematic, because the title is often read when using LLMs and other sorts of systems that handle PDF files.

Proposed solution

Preferred solution: when selecting Export to PDF… it would be nice to be able to enter a custom PDF title.

Alternative solution: when exporting a PDF file, use the note name as ‘Title’ metadata. At least this is, to myself, a better solution than using ‘Obsidian’ as ‘Title’ metadata.

Current workaround (optional)

Using a PDF editor to change the Title metadata field. For a lot of people, this is not possible, due to a lot of corporate and other non-admin users not having access to such a tool. Online editing often conflicts with IT policies that forbid users from uploading content to the Internet.

Related feature requests (optional)

None that I’ve been able to find.

I’ve added more information in an erroneously reported bug, in case you’d like to see exactly how to reproduce the metadata field and how it looks in Adobe Reader: PDF export gets 'Obsidian' as metadata title

Apologies for being so dense in my original reply. Having opened a PDF in Preview (macOS), I now understand your request and fully support it. Top idea. :light_bulb:

I had like to ask a different request: Title = Filename
