Things I have tried

Reviewed the existing community plugins, none seem to support image/rectangular selection.

The pdf reader-zotero-zotfile-mdnotes chain works (only for highlighting, so no image selection), but really takes too many steps and tools, and becomes clumsy when you want to make any changes in the extracted annotation notes.
I expect something similar to what logseq offers for pdf annotation, but really don’t want to migrate to logseq when I feel already comfortable with obsidian’s other features.
