I use the Paste URl Into Selection every day constantly. Worked fine up until 15 minutes ago. Was working this afternoon, no problem. Suddenly stopped working.
Things I have tried
I opened the sandbox vault and tried it there. It worked there.
I checked for plugin updates, it was not listed. I updated all plugins anyway.
I restarted Obsidian several times.
Nothing has helped.
How I usually do this:
I enter a word into a note that I intend to hold the link.
I select the word, highlighting it.
I press CMD-P, then P, which brings up the link to the plugin, then hit return.
The URL is inserted into the word and the word appears as a link.
Now when I hit return to execute the plugin, I just get this (example): Qwen2
That is not a link. EDIT: The link you’re seeing is NOT how it shows in my note. What shows is the text representation of the link, NOT the link. The entire link is spelled out, with no blue highlighting. I can’t show it here.
Anyone have any ideas why this would suddenly happen? Any way I can check for corruption in the vault?
I tested this problem on a new note. It works fine on the new note.
It appears to be confined to this one note. It is a large note with over 14,000 word. So I assume either Obsidian or the plugin is not capable of handling this large a note.
I will try breaking up the note to see if the problem goes away.
See my other post on “A New Major Disaster” - apparently it’s not that easy to extract parts of a note to a new note.
One thing I do notice about the Paste URL problem is that the link renders in Reading Mode, but not in Edit Mode. However, at all times in the past up until this afternoon it DID render as a link in Edit Mode.
I continue to think the problem is that the note is simply too large for either Obsidian or the plugin to work properly. I will find a way to extract the sections of the note to other notes either using Obsidian or using an external text editor.
As I said in my other post, I am extremely irritated at this failure.
