Page preview's pop-up is not disappearing in Graph view when I put the cursor away from the node

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open graph view with default settings
  2. press the “Ctrl” key and then hover over a node in graph view
  3. Page preview’s pop-up will appear.
  4. Put your cursor away from the node.

I am also able to reproduce this issue in the sandbox vault (or a just any vault started in restricted mode, no snippets and default theme).

Expected result

Page preview’s pop-up should disappear after I take the cursor away from the node in graph view

Actual result

Sometimes it does disappear but sometimes it does not. Also, this issue is specific to graph view. In other cases, like Editing view, files and bookmarks etc. it is disappearing properly, without any issue.

Hi is the bug still being tracked / fixed ?

I am facing the same issue today, I see another post mentioning this issue that was made in Oct 2020, so this bug seems to have been here for a while.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open graph view.
  2. Hover over a page to preview (replicable both with or without enabling “Require Ctrl to trigger page”.
  3. Move mouse away quickly.

Did you follow the troubleshooting guide? [Y/N]

Expected result

Expect to see the preview disappear after I move the mouse away (+ let go of Ctrl if “Require Ctrl to trigger page” for Graph view is disabled).

Actual result

Hover preview stays on screen after moving mouse away and even after clicking different files and also hover-previewing other files. Disappears after I click to edit then click away.

I am experiencing the same issue on Mac. How is there no response to this post, is this a rare bug?

Also I don’t know if this a bug or the intended effect, but if I bring my mouse cursor to hover over a node and then click cmd to get the preview nothing happens, I have to press and hold the cmd button before I bring my cursor to hover over the node in order to get the page preview pop up which is very annoying. Also I can’t go from node to node with the cmd button pressed to see the pop ups, there seems to be some kind of time delay for the popup that I have to wait before it will popup the new nodes preview

yes it is still being tracked

I’ve been having the same issue. The only way to get rid of a persistent pop-ups is to click on it and then click outside it.

This happened to me too. My solution was to install the page preview hover editor plugin, which corrects the errors in the core plugin, which by nature is already very primitive, as obsidian hasn’t corrected these errors in a long time.

We probably have a common function that’s holding us back, but it’s hard to figure out.

I noticed that on my obsidian the page preview opens without me even pressing control, the torture is intensified by the fact that we wait for the program to close it, instead of having an x icon, like the hover editor has

Hover editor

will be fixed v1.8.3. No ETAs
