"Open to the right" hotkey on a PDF link works only sometimes

Steps to reproduce

  • Link a PDF in a note
  • Set up a hotkey to open link under cursor to the right (ctrl + r in my case, tried ctrl + tab)
  • Hover over the link with the mouse and try the hotkey

Did you follow the troubleshooting guide? [Y/N]

Yes, I have uploaded some pdfs in the sandbox and behaviour is the same.

Expected result

Open the PDF to the right every single time I use the hotkey.

Actual result

It seems like the hotkey interferes with the PDF preview (ctrl + hover with mouse). If the preview appears first, the hotkey does not work. But on some occasions, the pdf opens to the right, and only then the preview appears (expected result).

The problem occurs both in Windows and Linux

I am not sure I understand the problem or can repro

Can you post a screen recording of this happening in the sandbox vault with everything default?

Screencast
@WhiteNoise, sorry for the quality. I couldn’t find a good converter to gif. But it still presents the problem well.

You can see that at 0:24 when I hover over the link and use ctrl+r, the PDF opens as intended. But after I hit enter a few times (or do something else), and hover and click ctrl+r multiple times, nothing happens.

It’s unclear to me when the hotkey works and when it doesn’t. It’s pretty random and annoying.
