Currently, the Quick Switcher can only be opened from within the Obsidian app itself. On iOS, this means several extra taps just to jump to a note — opening the app, then triggering the switcher.
Current state: Obsidian already offers a “Search” widget/shortcut option for Home Screen, Lock Screen, and Control Center that opens directly into the search view. This is great, but Quick Switcher serves a different purpose — fast, fuzzy filename/note-title navigation — and currently has no equivalent shortcut.
Feature request: Add the ability to open the Quick Switcher directly via:
- Lock Screen widget – tapping it would launch Obsidian straight into the Quick Switcher, skipping the vault/file browser view entirely.
- Control Center widget – a quick-access control that opens the app directly into Quick Switcher mode, similar to how other apps expose specific actions (e.g., Camera modes) via Control Center.
- Home Screen widget – a tappable widget that opens Obsidian and immediately presents the Quick Switcher, rather than the last-viewed note or default view.
Use case: For frequent Quick Switcher users, this would remove the friction of navigating into the app first. It’s especially valuable for quickly searching your vault for a specific note.
