Open PDFs stored outside the vault with internal PDF viewer

What I’m trying to do

I learned from this forum, that opening a PDF on a specific page is not possible when using an external PDF viewer.

So I would like to open a PDF file with the internal viewer, even if it is stored outside the vault.

To link to an external PDF I have to use markdown links. But when using markdown links then PDFs will open in the external PDF viewer.

Question 1: is it possible to open PDFs stored outside the vault with internal PDF viewer?
Question 2: if question 1 is true, can I specify a specific page then?

Things I have tried

Tried to use Wikilinks to open external PDFs, but Obsidian shows an error about the colon : in the file path of an absolute path name in Windows (C:\path\to\doc.pdf).

I should have mentioned that I don’t have permissions for mklink and Community Plugins on my company’s PC. So copying PDFs into my vault will be my last resort.

You can use the External PDF files feature (aka dummy pdfs) provided by PDF++ plugin
