OneDrive and EBUSY

I searched this forum and found some information about the EBUSY warning, but it seemed to be related to Proton drive. I think in my case it is related to OneDrive. My vault is stored in a folder under OneDrive control. I have the folder set to always keep a local copy, but I think OneDrive is locking the files because when working on a file I get repeated messages like “Failed to save EBUSY: resource busy or locked”.

I’ve seen other posts that users claim they have their vault(s) stored in folders under OneDrive control and it works seamlessly. Is there something I’m missing or do I always need to pause OneDrive syncing when I’m working with files in Obsidian (which would be all day)?

I mostly use Obsidian Sync, but I keep my test CSS vault in OneDrive, syncing it between a Win11 and a macOS 14.5 machine. I occasionally get conflicting and duplicate .obsidian/workspace.json files, but have never seen an EBUSY warning myself.

Once or twice durning a OneDrive app update on macOS, OneDrive forgot the setting to “Always keep on this device” for the vault folder, and needed to be reset, but other than that I haven’t had any major issues using this setup for over a year.
