Odd Web Clipper Behavior on Safari

I posted this on Discord (I hope it’s OK to do so here, or maybe it’s a bug?). No idea. Here is the issue.

What I’m trying to do

I am simply using the Obsidian Web Clipper. When I click on the Obsidian icon, I get the pop-up (HUD – what’s the right term?) but it contains nothing except for the Header “Properties” and the purple Add to Obsidian button at the bottom. There is also a down caret at the top but it is empty (If I remember correctly this allows me to choose the vault?)

Granted, I am on an old Mac laptop, using Safari (16.3) with the latest Obsidian build (1.7.7). When I installed the web clipper after its release it worked fine, but now it’s just blank.

Things I have tried

I have uninstalled Obsidian web clipper via Safari extensions, deleting it from my Mac. I re-downloaded the web clipper from the App Store, re-installed it . . . but each time I’ve done this I get the same behavior. I’ve restarted the Mac, although I’m not sure of the sequence. Maybe I need to uninstall, reboot the Mac, and then re-install. Just spitballing. I did test the web clipper using a new download of Chrome and it worked (so far). Just not Safari. Odd.

Anything else to try? (I did check for errors in the Obsidian console but I see nothing.) Thanks for reading . . .

Edit: typos.

It seems that this function is not compatible with the old version of Safari. Another post reported incompatibility with Safari on iOS 15.
