Obsidian runs very slowly on a brand new machine

What I’m trying to do

Hello, I’ve recently brought a new laptop (Ryzen 7 8845 and 16gb of Ram) to replace an old one I’ve been using for 5 years. I was expecting Obsidian to run smoothly but it’s not going that way. Writing is very slow, deleting even slower. It seems only to happen when I’m writing on a note opened on the right and a PDF open on the left.

Things I have tried

  • I’ve already tried Safe Mode and restarted to make sure the plugins weren’t the problem. I’ve also updated Obsidian.

  • I’ve ran a performance screenshot. Most of the work seems to be going to Rendering: specifically ‘Recalculate Style’. This while writing, deleting, and changing format.

  • Meanwhile, when I close and open the left and right columns a lot of the work goes to Scripting (especially ‘CPP GC’ and ‘set timeout’). Nevertheless, most of whe work still goes to Rendering (‘Recalculate Style’, especially).

I hope this is enough information. I have the performance snapshot too but don’t know the extension I need to share it here.

Thanks

The first thing they’ll ask you to do is test in the Sandbox vault - so try that first:
