In this case the yellow box would clearly show that there are some selected items inside the System folder.
I think that having a different color, not just the icon inside the box, is crucial to make it very clear what is what. Just changing the icon is not enough, because when multiple folders are selected, and they are all blue with just a different icon, it gets confusing.
This can be useful in many cases, but I noticed this when I used the Add Linked button. It showed me that instead of 1, there were 3 items selected. Ok, so where are they? This added feature would help with that.
Hello Obsidian team. I’ve just picked the tool back up and noticed the ability to specify publish: true in the frontmatter of pages. This makes it much easier to publish a page after creating it without having to search for it. However, when I create a page within a folder, it becomes difficult to verify the correct things are being published. It’d be nice if the publish view rendered an “Indeterminate” checkbox if at least one but not all pages within it (or its children) were checked for publishing.
Use case or problem
When I have a page checked for publishing, it’s difficult to find pages that are marked when pages are within folders.
I’d suggest that the checkboxes be rendered in an HTML Checkbox “indeterminate” state for folders that contain (recursively) at least one page that will be published. If all children pages were marked for publishing, the folder should be marked fully with the checkbox as well.
Make it so that when files are automatically selected in the publish window, in the “NEW” section, the parent folder(s) are also selected.
For the moment they aren’t, and you have to dive in and manually search for where this/these file(s) is/are located, which is not very practical.
We strongly recommend you to search the forum with possible keywords before making a new feature request. If your request is very similar to an existing one, consider liking it and/or making a comment rather than making a new one. Once you’ve searched and determined that this is a new request, delete this line.
Use case or problem
When publishing, I want the files being published to be very clearly displayed so I know exactly what I’m publishing.
Proposed solution
Show all files being published with their full paths up front, instead of in the folders.
Current workaround
The current method requires me to expand each folder and check exactly which files are being published.
(It was Obsidian Publish support who asked me by email to open a feature request, because this problem was certainly an oversight.
So I didn’t do any research indeed!)
