Obsidian Issues on MacOS

What I’m trying to do

None of my plugins, themes, hotkeys, groups, or anything other than the files themselves are saving when I close and re-open Obsidian on my Mac. I have an account but am not paying for sync simply because I don’t need it.

Things I have tried

I have determined that the folder within the Obsidian vault stored on my computer that contains information such as plugins and settings is called “.obsidian”. However, Mac automatically hides this folder as it begins with a “.”. I cannot figure out how to unhide it (I can view it), and Obsidian only allows these types of folders to be named beginning with a period.

Any other Mac users have solved this problem?

In a macOS Finder window, type: shift command . (period) to have the Finder show hidden files and folders.

What is the path of your Obsidian vault on disk? Is it in a sync service folder like iCloud Drive, One Drive, or anything like that?

Yes, this shortcut allows me to view the folder. However, it’s still greyed out [see attached image] and Obsidian is seemingly unable to access it to save my plugins and settings.

It’s saved on my Mac computer which automatically syncs to iCloud.

That’s expected.

With your vault being in iCloud Drive, make sure the setting in the screenshot here is toggled OFF.

Seems to be working after I turned off this setting but will see if it remains solved after restarting my computer etc.
