Obsidian deletes the wrong file

Steps to reproduce

  1. Right click file “A” → Delete
  2. Confirm “Are you sure you want to delete ‘A’?” → Yes
  3. File B is deleted

Expected result

  1. File A to be deleted

Actual result

  1. File B was deleted

Additional information

I just got started with Obsidian, created maybe 10-15 files. Created a file called “Depth Maps” which then started to throw an “Failed to save file. EMLINK: too many links” error, even though the file is basically empty. When trying to delete said file, a different file (Composable LoRA) is deleted instead (as described above) → see screenshots below.

Work around

Close Obsidian, delete the file in Finder, reopen Obsidian. The error is gone, and the file can now be created/deleted correctly.

You are misunderstanding the error. The problem begins with “Failed to save file. EMLINK: too many links”.

Two things. 1) Download and reinstall Obsidian. 2) Make sure that Dropxbox keeps the file locally and it’s not downloaded on demand.
