Obsidian Clipper: clippings on new tab?

What I’m trying to do

Using Obsidian Clipper, when I press “Alt+Shift+O”, the small clipping window shows on my browser, and then the clipping appears on my Obsidian instance.

But this new note on Obsidian, closes whatever I have on the application and shows instead.

So, I would like these new clippings to open in a new tab. Instead of the current tab.

Clipping window that pops up and closes automatically:

What I see on my Obsidian desktop app:

Things I have tried

Looking at every setting at the plugin:

Also, I tried resetting the plugin.

Conclusion

Any ideas on how to change this new-clipping behavior?

Under the template, there is a setting for this …

… in your case Default or YouTube video.

@DiCaver thank you for your reply, I do have it as “Create new note”, but the tab is my issue.
Whatever I have open on Obsidian gets closed (not deleted), and the new clipped note shows.

For example, these are my settings for my “Default” template:

{
  "schemaVersion": "0.1.0",
  "name": "Default",
  "behavior": "create",
  "noteContentFormat": "# Highlights\n{{highlights|map:item => item.text|list}}\n\n# Content\n{{content}}",
  "properties": [
    {
      "name": "timestamp",
      "value": "{{time|date:\\\"YYYY-MM-DDThh:mm\\\"}}",
      "type": "datetime"
    },
    {
      "name": "tags",
      "value": "clippings",
      "type": "multitext"
    },
    {
      "name": "date",
      "value": "{{date|date:\\\"YYYY-MM-DD\\\"|wikilink}}",
      "type": "multitext"
    },
    {
      "name": "title",
      "value": "{{title}}",
      "type": "text"
    },
    {
      "name": "source",
      "value": "{{url}}",
      "type": "text"
    },
    {
      "name": "author",
      "value": "{{author|split:\\\", \\\"|wikilink|join}}",
      "type": "multitext"
    },
    {
      "name": "published",
      "value": "{{published}}",
      "type": "date"
    },
    {
      "name": "description",
      "value": "{{description}}",
      "type": "text"
    }
  ],
  "triggers": [],
  "noteNameFormat": "{{title}}, {{date|date:\"YYYY-MM-DD\"}}",
  "path": "Clippings"
}

Any ideas to test?
Thanks!

Aha, OK … now I see and understand what the problem is. I have the same “problem” but never noticed it before because I have pinned tabs (on those I work on).

Sorry, I don’t have a solution for this, but I guess it’s more related to Obsidian behaviour than Clipper. I hope some of the Obsidian’s gurus will come up with a solution :smiley:

[Edit] I forgot to add that pinned tabs do not close if this is helpful.

I was not aware of this. Does not solve the “issue”, but good to know.
Thank you.
