Notes Self-Deleting - AKA "Modified Externally, Merged Automatically" Pop-Up

What I’m trying to do

This will be my third year taking notes for uni on Obsidian and this is the first time I’ve ever had this problem, where on recently created notes, I will be typing or on another screen with Obsidian still open in the background, and then the entire note disappears with a pop-up in the top right corner saying that “‘name of file’ has been modified externally and merged automatically” or something to that extent. I’ve never had this problem before and as far I can tell it has not affected my notes from years prior, only those created in the past 24 hours. I use a 2019 macbook pro and only have 1 vault for all my notes. I use iCloud to sync across devices but recently got a new iPad and have not redownloaded/logged into Obsidian on there yet. I am currently running ver 1.6.7 .

I would also like to add that sometimes the note will delete even without the dialogue pop-up. That occurs when I’m not actively working on the file.

Things I have tried

I’ve searched this topic on the forum, as well as reddit and nothing has been much helpful in my situation yet - as the asks are 3 years old or so and have either mentioned that the used should disable iCloud syncing if the user already has Obsidian Sync or that the user has not given enough information about their set-up. As far as what I’ve done - I’ve deleted community plug-ins that would require other platforms (I had a Zotero syncing one) and have quit out of Obsidian and restarted my laptop.

Any help would be appreciated as classes start soon and Obsidian is my main note-taking platform!
