I don’t know what I did, but now the notes are intermingled across all my vaults. I keep keep the vaults (folders) in a master folder on my desktop which appear to be OK, with no intermingling of the markdown text notes.
What I’m trying to do
I want to straighten out the app so that it just shows the notes in whatever vault that I select, without intermingling.
Things I have tried
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Obsidian app, but it did not clear up the problem. Any suggestions as to what I may have done to mess up the app, and how to correct the situation?
With my new laptop, I don’t use external mouses, only the touchpad. While browsing the File Explorer – I use Directory Opus on Win11 – it is very very easy to swipe-pull a folder into another without even you noticing it. If it’s actual moving of folders/files or creating a link to them, doesn’t matter – the foreign files will show in your other vault. (And if it entailed moving, these will be missing in the source vault.)
This happened to me on several occasions (non-Obsidian related), so maybe it happens to other people too.
Try to look for linked folders and files. As I have no idea what your OS is, you can take this further with chatGPT.
Thus, re-installing Obsidian could not have solved anything, as this is a file system issue – totally unrelated to Obsidian.
