NLPaper: a Paper Inbox for research PDFs (auto-tags + short summaries + fast recall)

Hi Obsidian folks — I’m the maker of NLPaper (and also a researcher/engineer). I read papers daily (ok, weekly) to stay current on methods and new results, and my “read later” list kept turning into a PDF graveyard: I’d save papers, then weeks later I couldn’t find them again — or I couldn’t remember what mattered.

NLPaper is a simple workflow: Capture → Auto-tag → Recall

  • Capture: save a paper fast (phone or desktop) into one inbox

  • Auto-tag: automatic tags + smart folders

  • Recall: search by tags/keywords and see a short summary + key findings to instantly remember the paper

Several questions:

  1. What integration would make this stick: Zotero import/sync, Obsidian md export?

  2. What would trigger you to pay for it?

  3. When you try to find a paper again, how do you search usually?

There’s a curated taxonomy of tags for each user, so the model will reuse an existing tag when possible and create a new one only when needed. This helps avoid creating duplicate synonym tags.

Thanks for the comment — where do you usually store your notes for papers? I’m sure full-text search across PDFs is useful, but I haven’t tried searching through notes yet.
