Newbie question - Building a Daily Notes Template with custom input per weekday

What I’m trying to do

I’m trying to setup a daily notes template that allows me to add a custom text or image depending on the weekday. In particular, I’d like to add the Kanji symbol of the weekday to my daily notes. In essence, I want

2024-11-30 土
Or
2024-12-01 日

As the header of my daily notes, or even better, a small image of the Kanji symbol as part of the template.

I’ve gotten used used the symbols and I’ve been using them as shorthand in my bullet journals, so I like to keep them. They’re more efficient than having the whole day spelled out too. I also just like them, so it’s just a bit of flair.

Things I have tried

I have a vague notion notion that I’ll probably need to use templater for this since the daily notes template isn’t granular enough for this, but other than that, I’m not entirely sure how to build this. I was hoping someone might have a good starting point!

You need to use two plugins: Daily notes core plugin and optionally Calendar community plugin.

Calendar: set override locale to ja.

Daily notes: set date format to YYYY-MM-DD dd.

If you want to insert dates as inline templates, then you can use Templates core plugin to set date format to YYYY-MM-DD dd. You can also use {{DATE:dd}} or {{date:YYYY-MM-DD dd}} in your inline templates (Templates core plugin) or in the daily note template (Daily notes core plugin).

This is great! Thank you so much for this, I know it’s a small design thing but I genuinely appreciate it!
