I am considering migrating from Evernote and have a couple initial questions.
My notebook imports fine, but there is a resource folder that is created. Is this a feature of Obsidian or Evernote import? Can the source images be embedded so this folder can be deleted?
Are there any community plugins or other way to get multiple line and image previews in the sidebar, similar to Evernote?
Not sure how the Evernote import process works, but in Markdown, embedding images into notes is not (easily) possible, nor advised. You would have to embed them as data: URIs, and I do not believe there is a plugin to do this automatically. In general in Obsidian, you are expected to have an “attachments” directory that holds any non-Markdown (well, and non-Base/Canvas) content, like images and videos. You then link to these files from within notes.
There are a few file browser preview plugins that might do what you want. For example: File Preview, Notebook Navigator.
