New theme in alpha! - Velocity 0.5.0

Velocity is a theme I’ve been working on for two months now, with a distinct focus on tactile feel and a frutiger aero / skeuomorphic design.

While it’s not perfect yet and very far from complete, I’d love to get more thoughts from you!

Just a fair warning that I’m relatively new to CSS and learned basically all I know while designing the theme. I’m also brand new to the forum, so if I missed something from the guidelines, please let me know!

Thanks a lot! I intend to post there too but am waiting on a much-improved beta or even full release.

I would also want to post on Reddit, since I feel my post on Discord only got a small audience!

New Patch - 0.5.3

Hello again! I’ve just released a new alpha patch for Velocity, fixing some of the most problematic bugs and design issues, while also adding a few totally new improvements and changes.

Major Patch - 0.6.0-alpha

Hello everyone. I’ve just released the biggest patch to Velocity since the first alpha release. The following changes have been implemented:

UI

Font stack changed to Segoe Variable + Inter.
Most icons now have hover backgrounds.
Optimized tab hover animations.
All-new sidebar styling.
New toggle styling (will be improved further in future updates).
Properties partially fixed.
Revamped color scheme and metallic/glassy design language.
Removed red accents.
Redesigned modals and menus.
Refinements to sidebar padding and margins.

Editor

New table styling.
New strikethrough styling.

Bugfixes

Andy’s mode (stacked tabs) now works.
Link hover colors corrected in editing mode.
Fixed changing active nav file background width.

I hope you’ll enjoy the new and improved theme.
From here on out, changes will mostly be made to markdown styling in the editor.

The latest patch has released! Here are the changes:

Interface

UI fixes

Glare reduction to reduce eye strain; main panel is slightly dimmed.
Status bar elements now have hover backgrounds.
Active clickable icons have a new glass background.

UI style changes

Active clickable icons have a new glass background.
Menu and prompt glass highlights have increased vibrancy.
Modified search results background styling.

Minor UI tweaks

Vault profile text is smaller in order to fit longer vault names.
Status bar now has increased thickness.
Tweaked hover & active animations of nav-header elements.

Editor

Text

Major reduction in heading sizes; now matches most themes more closely.
New highlight styling.
Increased line height for better readability.
Heading font changed to classic Segoe UI instead of Segoe Variable for a more nostalgic feel.
New ‘smart header’ H1/2/3 adapt to when markdown links are typed in (visible in Reading mode)

Other

Major table redesign / cleanup. (also reduced lag when viewing tables)

Bugfixes

Fixed the sidebar search (for backlinks, tags, properties, etc.) misalignment issue.
Improved performance through the use of gradients as fake shadows.
Removed stylized color swatch which does not work outside of the Appearance page.
