Hello everyone,

I’ve dropped my second plugin called Verso. Hope you find it useful.

What it does

You add a book, set a target finish date, and tell Verso which days you actually read. It builds a daily schedule — specific page ranges, not vague “read 30 minutes” goals — and tracks your progress against it honestly.

If you fall behind, it doesn’t spiral into shame math. It redistributes your remaining pages across your remaining days and tells you what you need to do. If you catch up, the “Behind” badge clears immediately. No streaks. No points. No coaching.

How it works

  • Dashboard — your active books sorted by urgency: at-risk first, then behind, then on-track, then not yet started. Each book shows its status, today’s chunk, and progress toward the finish line.

  • Today sidebar — a compact view of just the books with something due today. Mark a chunk complete without leaving your notes.

  • Library — tabs for Planned, Completed, and Archived books. Finished books get shelved — their spines line up on a visual bookshelf sorted by when you finished them.

  • Honest scheduling — when you log what you actually read, Verso updates the remaining schedule around reality, not the original plan. Backdated starts, missed days, and catch-up sessions all resolve cleanly.

  • Flexible reading days — set your defaults globally, override per book as needed.

  • Customizable vocabulary — call your collections whatever fits: Shelves, Lists, Projects, or your own word.

The philosophy

Verso is a thoughtful friend, not a productivity app. It won’t pretend you’re crushing it when you’re three weeks behind. It will tell you the truth, do the math, and get out of your way.

It’s built for independent readers and book clubs — people who read for their own reasons, on their own terms.

Happy to hear feedback, answer questions, or find out what I missed. This is a hobby project and a first release. I built it to use it myself, but I hope it’s useful to you as well.

Thanks for reading!

Verso v1.0.4 — small fix

Quick update: fixed a gap where you could set a finish date in the past when starting a book (either adding a new one or activating one from your Planned list in the Library section). Verso would still build a schedule, just …badly. Everything left to read would get crammed into a single chunk due immediately, with no warning first.

Now it just tells you before that happens: finish date has to be today or later. Your start date can still be in the past if you’re catching up on data entry for a book you actually started a few days ago. It’s just the finish commitment that can’t already be broken on day one.

No new features, no data changes. Update from Settings → Community Plugins whenever you get to it.

Thanks for reading (and for the two likes on launch — small things, appreciated).
