New line / line break command/options in table cell on Mobile

Use case or problem

Hitting Enter on a mobile keyboard creates a new cell in the table. As there is no Shift+Enter for mobile, it is not possible to create a new line in a table cell on mobile without using HTML. Perhaps can be a separate command for new line?

Current workaround (optional)

Type out
to insert line break manually

There is a related topic in the Help thread: from 2 years ago: Is there a better way to line break in table cells on mobile?

Thanks for making this! I support this request :+1: It does feel like an oversight. There’s a heap of available table actions in the mobile toolbar. Adding a ā€œTable: Add new lineā€ command seems like a no-brainer.

As a workaround, you can add a Templater template consisting of <br> to the command palette, create a macro for this command in Commander, and add it to the mobile toolbar. Then return to Commander to set a pretty Lucide icon for the command. (It’s a little unintuitive, I know.)

Just FYI: the post you linked to was made two months ago. ā€œOct 22ā€ got you confused, haha.

Any updates?

Renamed title for discoverability, was ā€œEasier way to create new line in a table cell on Obsidian Mobileā€

on Android using Google Keyboard dictionary features may help too, because 2 plugins for line breaks on been table seems excessive.
