Need assistance understanding how to update one note with another

Hello, I’m figuring out how to update one note from another in a specific application. More specifically, I’m attempting to change a number in one note and have it automatically reflected in another note. It seems like a simple task, but I don’t know if it’s possible within this application.

I have seen using blocks and files, but based on what I have read, it requires large portions of information and seems complex. I only want one tiny part of the note to change while the rest stays the same.

I have only tried using links, but I could be missing something in that department.

I have searched online and seen Obsidian Sync, which is not what I need. Blocks may have promise, but they seem pretty in-depth, and I am still trying to figure out where to start. As for Files, this one seemed to copy whole notes, which is more than what I need.
I’m at the beginning of my journey with this program and I’m eager to learn more about its capabilities. Any information or guidance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for reading

You can link to a note, heading, or block and then embed that section in another note. Maybe you are looking for something like that?

Hi, welcome to Obsidian!

![[source]]

this does seem pretty much like what i was asking for, so all i need to do is do “![[source]]”?
is that it?

Yes, please check the links I shared.

![[source]] <- full note embedded

![[source#heading h2]] <- heading in note embedded

![[source#^bc0c23]] <- block in note embedded

depending on what you want to link to.

i do believe this will work, but i have been unable to get the block to find what i am writing.
atm i am trying to use:
![[source#^bc0c23]]
i will continue to attempt to make it work, but if you have any extra info im willing to try.

update,
i have gotten it to find it now, is there a way to end what it is copying?

Limit the selection to a heading or block.

A block like the above is created by Obsidian when you link to it.

Type [[ → start typing the note you want to link to → use the down arrow to select/highlight it from the suggestions → type ^ → use the down arrow again to select the block → hit Enter. Add a ! in front (you could do that at the beginning as well) to embed it.

Alright, i have been able to get it to work, thank you very much for your help. i was placing the code inside where i wanted it to pull the information so i ended up just doubling it so after stopping that it was pretty much exactly what i was hoping to have.
