Native support for Typst in Obsidian Core

I would love to see typst support for equations in obsidian as an alternative to LaTeX as soon as they add html exports. Is this something you might consider adding devs? I think this could also be achived with a plugin but it will probably be a bit sketchy since you would have to bypass the LaTeX $ $.

We probably won’t add it to core in the foreseeable future.
But i’ve actually reviewed a community plugin for it a few days ago, not yet approved.

Bummer :frowning: And yeah that’s what I meant with a sketchy plugin.

Bumping this up again – are we considering typst support in the near future? Thanks!

Nothing changed since my last message.
If we ever consider, it will either show up on the roadmap, or just be implemented in an update.

Please consider add this as a core feature. The typst project has grown a lot in the recent years and its really solid now. At least for me, typing latex/mathjax in obsidian still is a pain in the *, which none plugin has could relieve it.

I have been considering using Obsidian to take notes, and having Typst support would be a huge factor in making me switch. I would love to see support for Typst brought into Obsidian.

It’s me again. I’ve just made another PR. This time for the above linked plugin.

bumping this up again, is it being considered now? it seems its becoming the new standard

Moved this thread to Feature Request category.

March 2026 Notice: Support for typist in Obsidian Core is not on the roadmap.

+1 on this. Writing LaTeX in big files caused much lag (at least in my case, when it is wrapped in admonition). typst is faster, have better syntax and more extensible than LaTeX with MathJax, in my opinion. Currently there is a plugin obsidian-typst-mate

which covers most of features that I want to see from Obsidian+typst.
