Hello, i was using obsidian without an account loged in, and because i trusted the data saving of the application i didn’t save the vaults on my computer.
Today i created an obsidian account because i wanted to take sync, but when i opened the application again all my vaults where gone, do you know what i can do to find them ?
You do not need to be logged in to use Obsidian. The vaults you make will be saved on your computer, where you chose to store the vault.
If the vaults are gone, something else has happened.
- Did you save your notes in the Sandbox help vault? This gets reset automatically.
- Are you opening Obsidian on a different computer, and expecting your notes to be there?
- Did you save your notes in a cloud tool that off-loaded your notes into the cloud?
- Did you save your notes in some external place like a NAS or external hard drive?
- Did you delete the notes, or format your hard drive?
If the notes are there, but you just lost the list of your vaults, you can search your hard drive for Markdown notes. .md
If you deleted the data, and expected Obsidian to automatically sync to the cloud, then the notes might be gone. Obsidian Sync doesn’t work unless you subscribe and pay for Obsidian Sync, set up remote vaults, and sync the notes.
