@New I’ve been looking around for some project management solutions to keep track of all the different projects i have going on, and this seems like it would work pretty well. You’ve clearly put a lot of time and effort into it, so thanks for making it free and answering everyone’s questions
I do have a question of my own though: Is there a way to indicate a “blocked” task that relies on another task being completed? Or some kind of ordered list of tasks? This is one of the biggest features of a PM solution I’m looking for because I have so many ideas but without a way to order them and mark some as dependent on others, it becomes a bit of a mess. I’m brand new to Obsidian as well, so that may not be helping lol.
Personally I don’t like it. You are not blocked from marking Task 1 as complete, if Task 2 hasn’t been completed yet. The only thing that connects the two is a generated ID. If you have different top Tasks in the same note it will get very confusing.
I would recommend to just create a tabulated structure like the following:
I am aware that this isn’t the best solution either, and that it makes tracking different tasks that share the same common dependency very tricky to visualize, but I think it is still superior to the first option. Risk of error and confusion is lowered.
One small thing you could do to link tasks together is to transform them to Headings. It’s ugly and hacky, but better then nothing. This only works with top tasks and not sub-tasks.
If you are in a different note, you can create a backlink and specify the Heading you want to link to by adding a # at the end of the note’s name, like so:
Very cumbersome though.
Sorry I couldn’t provide a more satisfactory answer. Should I come across something better, I’ll let you know. And if you find something that works for you, please do share it here!
