My Capital "P" will not appear in the update v1.1.15 Desktop or v1.4.2 Mobile

Steps to reproduce

  • Normal typing

  • After the update my Capital “P” stopped appearing as I type in my Obsidian Desktop. (lower case “p” shows fine.

  • Then, I found the same thing happens in my Mobile app

  • I changed fonts, theme, dark/light mode and nothing changed
-All other keys work in Caps and lower case.

  • I have no css snippets

  • My keyboard is working normally in all other apps - Including here “P”

  • I can copy text with the Cap “P” from another source and it shows in my Obsidian note

  • Just discovered it types normally in another vault.

Expected result

I can type “P” normally in both Desktop and Mobile

Actual result

  • Nothing shows when I type upper case “P”

RECOMMENDATIONS:
Custom theme and snippets: for cosmetic issues, please first try updating your theme and disabling your snippets. If still not fixed, please try to make the issue happen in the Sandbox Vault or disable community theme and snippets.
Community plugins: for bugs, please first try updating all your plugins to latest. If still not fixed, please try to make the issue happen in the Sandbox Vault or disable community plugins.

Additional information

Disable all community plugins and restart Obsidian,
does this still happen?

Also your installer version is slightly out of date, best to download a new version from the website and install it(no need to uninstall the current version)

Thanks
Disabled all Community Plugins - same result
Updated Installer - same result
The Upper Case “P” works in other vaults.

How about in the Sandbox (Help > Sandbox vault > Open).

So, it’s something specific and wrong with that vault.

It works in all other vaults including Sandbox.

Do I just create a new vault and copy all my files over?
I hate having to redo all my plugin settings?

You probably just need to turn your plugins off one-by-one to find the one that’s causing this

Could be that one of them isn’t compatible with the latest version.

Thanks, I’ve turned all of them off, and it still would not work.

I turned all plugins off and then copied my vault to another folder.
I opened it as a new vault, and the same problem exists.

Yes. Agree.
I copied my vault with community plugins off to create a new vault.

Thinking that the vault just has .md flies and nothing about Obsidian settings.

That did not help.

Eager for suggestions.
Thanks

The nuclear option is moving your .obsidian folder out of your vault and starting fresh, but as you mentioned above, you’ll have to re-do all your settings including installing plugins/snippets/themes and setting them up again.

In the Finder on your mac, the .obsidian folder for your troublesome vault should look something like this →

  • make a copy of all these files and folders before doing anything

I would close Obsidian, move one of these .json files out of .obsidian at a time, restart, and see if you can use “P” again. If you can’t use “P”, quit Obsidian, and replace the original .json. Move on to the next one. Skip the plugins, snippets, and themes folders for now.

All of these files do have settings, so if you do manage to get “P” working again you’ll have to re-do whatever settings the file had in it.

Did you set an hot key to Shift+P?

Yes, Yes, Yes - That solved it.
Thank you so much!!!
