Multiple groups of the same size in the same position corrupts Canvas

Steps to reproduce

Create a new Canvas and two new groups with any names. Place the identical groups in the same location (with grid snapping).

Drag the resulting group around a few times.

Did you follow the troubleshooting guide? [Y/N]

I reproduced this in a restricted mode vault.

Expected result

Obviously there’s no good reason to place two groups like this, but it happened to me by accident. I expected that if I dragged the edge then I could then select the larger group and separate then again. This does work as long as you don’t drag both of the groups first.

Actual result

After dragging the resulting group pair a couple of times, both disappear, along with all other items in the canvas. In some cases the groups will remain but no interaction is possible.

If you close this canvas and open it again, it will seem to be restored to a previous arrangement, though in some cases the canvas will still be glitchy.

Additional information

This seems very similar to my bug report.

Glad I’m not the only one experiencing this.

Interesting. My board actually looked similar to yours when I first encountered the issue. I wonder if Canvas doesn’t like overlapping groups.

Yeah, idk. Obs Team is limited this week (vacations and such) so we will find out soon.

Any updates on this?

can you attach a canvas where this happens in the sandbox vault?

Steps to reproduce

  1. create a group frame;
  2. duplicate it, and move the clone to completely coincide with the original frame
  3. use mouse to press and hold the title part to move the frame
  4. lose all content (reload to recover)

Did you follow the troubleshooting guide? [Y]

Expected result

Canvas content is not lost after moving frame

Actual result

lose all content and control to the canvas

Still an issue in the latest insider version of Obsidian. In my main vault I’m seeing the following error in the developer console when moving the groups, though it doesn’t show these errors in the sandbox vault for some reason (though the issue is still present in the sandbox vault)

There may not be any difference, but try updating your installer to the latest (v1.8.10) and report back.

Updated to the latest installer version and tried again in both my main vault and the sandbox vault, but the issue still persists.
