Move note to pane without splitting first

Let’s say I have 2 notes open (2 tabs) and I want to move one of them to a pane on the right to have them side by side. Right now I have to right click the tab, Split right, then close the original note on the left.

Is there a way to achieve this via a shortcut or a plugin?
Similar to Open In New Window, but Open In New Pane?

It doesn’t close the “first” tab, but does cmd/ctrl clicking on the book/pen icon get you part of the way there?

That makes the process a bit faster indeed. Thank you for sharing that tip.
Any logical idea why that option to open in a right/bottom pane is not implemented?
Also, when I use that method with CMD, unlike the Split Right, my notes now have a link icon. What is that and why does it show when I use CMD, but not when I right click?

A cmd/ctrl click on the book/pen icon is the equivalent of 1) split right 2) link with tab 3) change the right tab group to Reading view (or to the editor) all in one.

Thanks for clarifying! :raising_hands:
I tried it and I see what what it does.

There are also Split down and Split right commands you can assign hotkey to.

The commands aren’t assigned hotkeys by default.

You can also drag the tab handler and drop it when the target region appears.

YES! That’s exactly what I wanted! :raising_hands: thanks!!
I know I’ve seen that before, but in cases where I didn’t want to do that, so I guess I never paid much attention to it.

You’re a life saver!

I saw those too, but the workflow ended up the same.
For some cases your solution will be useful and for others what @JLDiaz showed is exactly when I needed today.

Appreciate you both!
