Move / Change position of tabs with commands (within the same tab group)

Use case or problem

When wanting to change the order of the tabs (in the same group and window)

Proposed solution

Moving tabs left / right with commands – eg. “move current tab to the left” will swap current tab position with the one currently left to it.

Current workaround (optional)

Only to use the mouse.

Related feature requests (optional)

As I understand it “Keyboard shortcuts to move tabs around” is the exact same request, but it was closed by @WhiteNoise, who linked to “Add command to Move current tab to tab group to the right/left/above/below”, which is not the same feature request. The first one (and this) is about moving / changing order of tabs within the same tab group and window, while the second one is about moving tabs between groups.

Thanks, I understand what you want. Renamed for clarity .

Pane Relief adds commands for this, which you can bind to a hotkey.

Sorry for the late response, and thank you! The “Swap tab” commands from Pane Relief provide just the functionality I needed!

Thanks mate

As someone who prefers not to check every plugin’s source code or rely on blind trust, I would still love to see this feature added  .

Good point. I just read about Obisidian’s new automated plugin reviews (article at alternativeto.net) that should make it easier to decide which plugins to trust. Great initiative, i think, lots of relevant parameters. Hopefully it will soon become part of the community plugin browser in Obsidian itself . Here’s the review for Pane Relief.
