Mobile sidebar default to full screen?

What I’m trying to do

I’m trying to get the mobile sidebar to default to full screen. My phone screen is small (iPhone SE 2016) and so the only sidebar that appears properly is the full screen one. Unfortunately, the non-full screen sidebar appears to be the default.

Things I have tried

I’ve searched through the settings and existing plugins. I’ve also read this post, which appears to describe the same issue: File explorer in full screen by default
