Missing feature in 1.6? ("footnote previewing on hover")

What I’m trying to do

The following is from the official Obsidian Twitter account, in their newest post about the 1.6.0 beta update:

“Dozens of fixes and improvements for footnotes. Added support for footnote previewing on hover.”

I am entirely unable to get this feature to work.

Things I have tried

  • Restarting Obsidian (and double checking I’m actually on v1.6)
  • Making sure the official hover editor plugin is turned on
  • Using sandbox vault (no community plugins)
  • Inline and manual footnotes

I’ve searched the forum for “footnotes” and “1.6” but nobody else seems to have noticed this…

@nga, same here.

Footnote hover preview works in Source mode and Live preview mode, but does NOT work in Reading mode.

Moderators: can this topic be converted to a bug report?

@gapmiss I’ll admit that I didn’t even realize it works in Source & Live preview — thanks for pointing that out.

This clearly indicates it’s a bug. Hoping for a quick fix, as I think it’s a great feature.
