What I’m trying to do
I’m attempting to have mathjax/latex be styled with the same color when I have it surrounded by italics (*) or bold (**)
Things I have tried
I attempted to create a snippet to style the “math” class elements for me, but it was only partially successful at best.
The first one looks for two elements with the widget class before any math class elements, if it finds them, it will color it as bold. It does not work effectively because the two widget class elements are not necessarily related to the bolding of text, as they are used in a variety of situations.
The one that is commented out looks for any line that has .cm-em, which is the class for text that has italics, and changes the style for the math class elements in that line. The problem is that it does the entire line, instead of just the math class element that is actually in italics.
I have looked everywhere for a way to successfully style these with the same color as italic or bold when they should be, including stack overflow and here.
