Markdown not rendered in edit mode?

I have live preview enabled as default. I have been editing a note all day, and suddenly the markdown code becomes visible, and the text is not rendered. In the reading mode, the markdown is rendered, but I’m not able to edit the note. Is this normal? I’m relatively new to Obsidian and this forum.

I've tried creating a new note to test the problem, and I get the same behaviour.

Look just above where the markdown “breaks” and isn’t rendered anymore.

Do you have any HTML or anything that Obsidian may think is unclosed HTML?

Is it possible that source mode has been activated inadvertently?

From the menu bar, choose View, and if Source Mode is ticked, deselect it.
