Map View option in right sidebar disappeared

I’m running Obsidian desktop v1.5.11 desktop on Windows 10, which was apparently auto-updated recently. I use the Map View plugin pretty extensively and I just noticed that there is no longer a ‘Map View’ option showing on the top toolbar for the right sidebar - did something change? I went through all of the various settings and I can’t find anything that would enable that. I also tried uninstalling and re-installing the Map View plugin, which didn’t fix the problem.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

John

judging by the Github page, there’s an icon in the left ribbon that you can click and I would guess that there is also a command to open the map view.

Olondre - I saw that but it opens the map view in the current tab, not the right sidebar. I used to be able to show the map in the right sidebar and that’s what I’m trying to get back to.

Thanks

I don’t know about this plugin, but you can drag a tab from a pane into a sidebar. Isn’t that what you want ? I have seen some plugin open a pane directly into a sidebar, but I think it depends on the plugin’s programmation not Obsidian’s .

Exactly, just drag and drop the map view to your desired destination.

Did you perhaps add more things to the sidebar that might have pushed the icon out of the viewable area? You can check this by widening the sidebar (unfortunately there’s no visual indicator when it happens).

OK, this is extremely embarrassing - I have another app I’m learning called digiKam that has the same sidebar config that Obsidian uses, and that’s the one that allows me to see the map in the right sidebar. I’ve been switching between them a lot for the last few days and must have transposed them in my head.

Apologies for the confusion, and thank you all for the help.
