Obsidian.md and TTRPG and World Builders are becoming words that belong in the same sentence. Obsidian.md is now one of the most commonly used tools for managing our campaigns and worlds. They are an almost perfect union.
Every week though, we see someone come along who wants to make a really nice Publish site for their players. Obsidian can do so much, but the thing it cannot do, is Publish a pinned map!
The TTRPG and Worlbuilding Communities would really love it is Obsidian could implement some native support for maps. We have fantastic map support with Leaflet. But we can’t Publish Leaflet which is the thorn in our side that stops us from making amazing websites that show the world our really cool Obsidian creations.
Features Required:
- Ability to add a custom map.
- Ability to measure distance on the map.
- Ability to add pins to the map that link to other notes.
- Nice to Have: Ability to have layers of different maps.
- Nice to Have: Ability to have optional drawings applied over the map to represent things like countries.
I very much doubt this would only be useful to our communities.
- Bloggers could show maps of places they like.
- Fitness enthusiasts could show maps of the places they run or hike.
- Historians could show maps of ancient conflicts.
- Pirates could make maps on common channels worth plundering.
If Obsidian.md could add native support for something like Leaflet.js… then we would make amazing Publish sites that are super attractive to non-obsidian users. It would bring in more customers and make this already amazing tool superb.
