Writers juggling 100+ scenes often struggle to see the big picture. Tables require endless scrolling, and metadata gets buried. That’s why I built Manuscript Radial Timeline a plugin that maps scenes across subplots in concentric rings. Split into 3 Acts. Status grid at the center.
Features at a glance
- Scenes ordered and compactly presented with Title, Status and Number Squares color coded to show open tab, pending edits, search results.
- Subplots ordered in concentric rings. Show all scenes (from all subplots) across the outermost ring with Save the Cat Plot Beats or just Main Plot scenes without Plot Beats.
- Any Plot Beats system (here I used Save the Cat) as small slices with titles and hover details.
- Hover over Scenes or Plots shows key metadata including Title, Date, Synopsis, Characters, Subplot(s) and optional AI 3 Scene feedback
- Clickable scenes that open the note in a tab
- Color-coded publish stages (Zero Draft → Press), plus overdue/in-progress/completed indicators
- Keyword Search
- Optional AI API integration to analyze the flow of three consecutive scenes
- Supports multi-book in same vault and Plot Beats system such as Save the Cat
- Plugin Settings to Show all scenes from all subplot in outer ring or smaller Main Plot subset. This has the effect of hiding the Save the Cat plot beats as well.
- Fun stuff around inner ring like an estimated completion date tick and rainbow ring showing year completed so far.
Plugin requires certain metadata and makes assumptions about how the vault is setup. Please let me know if you have any issues. See Readme for a sample YAML setup. Does not require any other plugins to function.
