Hey everyone, there is a pretty big bug happening with iPadOS 26. The app constantly freezes, and is unresponsive when you have an external keyboard attached. I’ve also noticed freezing and buggies whenever the iPadOS toolbar is on screen. If you minimize it, the functionality returns, but the second the toolbar is back on screen, the app freezes or does not act properly. This is not just an issue with Obsidian. I have tested this on drafts, iA Writer, and bear. It happens on every single app except Craft. I am not seeing as much talk about this online as I would hope so. I am hoping the developers here can fix it. Because I am unsure how long it will take Apple to solve it on their end. If possible, I’d be happy to take a screen record recording of the bug and share.

Do you mean the system bar where the autocorrect and microphone button are?
Also what kind of keyboard are you using (Bluetooth, USB, Smart Connector)?
I haven’t noticed problems with Apple’s Smart Folio keyboard, tho I don’t use it often. I also have Predictive Text turned off; you could try that in case it’s a factor.
What kind of external keyboard are you using?
It doesn’t sound like an Obsidian or even Electron issue since it’s also happening with Drafts, iA Writer, and Bear.
The only issue I’ve experienced with Obisidian on iOS 26 is with some keyboard shortcuts not working, such as the shortcuts for next/previous tab (cmd+shift + left/right bracket)

Yeah you’re right, that was my error. It’s definitely an apple issue. I am using a Magic Keyboard on my M4 iPad Pro.
Also, for what it’s worth, I have an older iPad pro and Apple’s “Magic keyboard” (the heavy magnetic one) and, while iPadOS 26 has its quirks, I’m not seeing the issues you described.

Okay, so I have done some more testing and can give you exact steps to recreate the issue. This works in Drafts, Obsidian, and Bear so far:
- Add text to new document
- Misspell a word
- Right click on word to bring up menu
- Click on “Replace”
- Select right word, and after you do, nothing will happen, and the note will freeze.
I am using the iPad app and the newest Magic Keyboard if that helps.
