I searched the forum and couldn’t find any reference to this issue
What I’m trying to do
I typed a misspelled word in a note and accidentally added it to the dictionary by slipping on the trackpad from the suggestion to that menu option.
I didn’t realise there was a UI to edit this dictionary, tbh at first I thought it was the MacOS dictionary I’d added it to.
I did eventually google and find reference to the file that did contain the incorrect word
~/Library/Application\ Support/obsidian/Custom\ Dictionary.txt
I removed the word from this file, left the hash intact.. it didn’t help fix the issue unfortunately. Since then I discovered the UI in settings to manage the dictionary but I find that I don’t see my word in there, not even if I manually add it into the file again.
I can’t find anywhere else referencing the word aside from some log files showing edits I’ve made to notes around that time.
Is there an easy way I can clear all these dictionary items and force it to correctly show the misspelled word as incorrect?? As it thinks it’s correct it won’t offer me UI to properly add it into the file.
Thanks for your help
Things I have tried
I tried adding new words to the dictionary to see if this would pick up the updates to the file but this sadly didn’t seem to help.
I notice the hash in the file appears to be an MD5 so wondered about adding the word back in manually and trying to calc a valid hash
I’ve been unable to find reference to the word that is incorrectly now treated as being in the dictionary even though its not present in the file.
