This is just a scream into the nothingness I guess, cause you won’t be able to reproduce this. But meanwhile, v 1.8.10 made me lost access to my vault completely without any hope to have Obsidian on my phone anymore.
Conditions:
Some phones’ Android is modified pretty much, so is mine. So when Obsidian tries to browse to a vault folder I get this error:
Error: Failed to choose folder: No Activity found to handle Intent {act=android.intent.action.OPEN_DOCUMENT_TREE flg=0xc3 (has extras) }
I know I am far not only one who has this, because earlier there was a simple workaround by creating a vault in the Documents folder. And it worked for me for years, but until v1.8.10. Nothing changed on my device, except the version, Obsidian still has All Files permission. But suddenly instead of opening my Vault as usual it gives me the new/switch vault menu, which I am unable to use, because the folder browsing won’t work.
I have this phone for many years, and none any other app broke by this thing.
Please re-introduce the support of the default Vault path, this is the only chance for me to use Obsidian with storage vault on this phone.
I don’t think we have changed anything in that regard in 1.8.10
Those types of error usually appear in non-standard android phones that do not have the implementation for all the API features and we do not support them. Sorry!
Have no idea what you mean by “modified”. It wasn’t modified by me, but by the manufacturer, Asus in my case. If not having at least some kind of solution to this is a good reason to leave behind a portion of your user base, then be it so…
You phone manufacturer gave you a phone where one of the basic android API is missing. This one.
You need to contact them and see if they have firmware update where this problem is corrected.
This isn’t a new problem.
If you search the forum for that particular error, you’ll see that it often happens with custom roms or in phones sold in the Chinese market (that are not really “Android”).
None of this is helpful. I had the app now I don’t.
My phone does not get updates anymore, probably it’s a surprising fact, but a huge amount of ppl use outdated phones and china phones.
