I’m looking for a new solution to sync my Obsidian vaults across all my devices. I’ve recently used Syncthing, but it has stopped working due to new file access permission restrictions. When I first started using Obsidian, I tried Google Drive and Nextcloud, but I encountered issues with both. I considered using Git, but the implementations in Obsidian plugins don’t seem to work properly. Does anyone have any suggestions?
I use Mega.
Even the free version offers 50GB, and the PC version has version control.
The official mobile app (android) requires a subscription for sync with version control (?), but there are free alternatives like autosync or foldersync. Though they don’t offer version control.
I think some additional info might be useful for others to offer more suggestions.
Like what devices you use (Windows/mac/ios/etc.) and whether you want realtime collaboration or just be able to continue your work on a different device.
Resilio sync is working well for me.
The trick is to sync your data folders, but not your config folders.
Well, I’m using iCloud now.
Since iOS 18 provides the option to keep the Obsidian folder on the device, it is much more reliable now. I’ve also used the Lazy Plugin Loader to speed up the loading time and it’s quite useful for mobile devices.
It may not fit everyone, but it’s the easiest way for me.
