I am writing a note in a different language than my system (and therefore the localisation of Obsidian). Typos are detected (words underlined) but I don’t get any proposal for corrections when I right-click, as I do in English.
I have looked for community plugins but couldn’t find any.
I saw that this problem has been mentioned several times in the forum but did not see any solution. So, I’m checking if anyone has found a workaround since…
Of note about this question, the spelling mistakes are detected in the alternative languages I am using in Obsidian. If this is related to the settings at the system level it makes sense as I have set up alternative language dictionaries. It also means (I hope!) that it is possible to get proposals for corrections?
Check if LanguageTools supports the language you’re writing in. If so, you can install one of the LanguageTool integration plugins (no accounts are needed for the basic stuff).
Thanks for the hint! I will look into this, I also saw another plugin integrating LanguageTool.
Still, I am surprised that Obsidian does not do this natively. I have other applications that use the system language and dictionary settings and spell checking works like a charm…
