Using Rename this heading updates a same-note embed to the new heading name, but Live Preview reports that the heading cannot be found. The heading exists, and Reading View renders it correctly.
Steps to reproduce
- In a new local vault with the default theme, Restricted mode on, and no CSS snippets, open
test_document.mdin Live Preview with this content:
[[#Alpha|Jump to Alpha]]
![[#Beta]]
# Alpha
Alpha body.
## Beta
Beta body.
- Place the cursor in
## Beta. Run Rename this heading from the command palette, enterGamma, and save. - Inspect the embed above the headings.
Did you read and follow the Troubleshooting Guide?
Yes. Reproduced in a fresh local vault without community plugins, a community theme, or CSS snippets. Also reproduced using Obsidian 1.13.7 downloaded from the official website (macOS DMG).
Expected result
The embed changes to ![[#Gamma]] and continues to display the renamed section.
Actual result
The text changes correctly to ![[#Gamma]], but Live Preview displays Unable to find “Gamma” in test_document, even though ## Gamma exists below.
- Reading View displays the section correctly.
- Switching back to Live Preview leaves the error.
- Opening another note and then returning to
test_document.mdrestores the embed.

Additional information
I searched existing reports. Unlike the nested-heading link update issue, this example uses a single heading fragment and the reference text is updated correctly.
Live Preview after the rename: the embed points to Gamma and the actual heading is Gamma, but the embed shows an error.
Reading View of the same note: the section renders correctly.
