List vs task list - error while typing

Things I have tried

i searched for how to make a task list in the help docs, and i found the syntax but it only works if i copy and paste it. If i try to write myself - [ ] it gives me an unordered list

What I’m trying to do

i'd like to write the characters needed to get a task list, but it only works when i copy and paste the task list from elsewhere. when i write - [ ] this in obsidian it gives me an unordered list with two square brakets... how to do?

You need a space between the square brackets: [ ]

i tried that too, but still nothing. It gets the unorder list when i add minus and space

I wouldn’t bother with tasks if it wasn’t for CMD ENTER. Makes them fantastically easy to use / type.
