Links to local images outside of vault broke after migration

What I’m trying to do

Dear community,

After a windows 10 to windows 11 update, I have reinstalled Obsidian and paste my vaults are the exact same location.

A lot of my notes contain links to image stored locally outside of the vault. I am linking them with the following syntax : << name >>

It was working fine before the migration. After I put everything back up, I have realised that the images were showing in the notes in Edit Mode but not in View Mode.

The console was showing a message alike “Not allowed to load local resource” followed by the path to my image.

Things I have tried

I have realised that updating links syntax to << ![name](file:///C:///path/folder/file) actually solved the issue but I have plenty of links to go through.

I am still wondering the reason why I had the problem at first and how the file could properly be accessed in Edit mode but not in View mode (that feels dark magic to me).

Any thoughts would be appreciated !

Thanks !
Best

Did you check if the path is the same?
I remember the first time installing Win 11 and its trying to force me to log in with a PIN code tied to my OneDrive account and then the User account name was different holding my Obsidian vaults in Documents.
So maybe your attachments went to a different folder.

Dear Yurcee,

I have checked yes (I actually organized all the migration not to alter such paths).
One evidence of that being that without changing the file path it is working at least in Edit Mode.

Sorry I did not pay enough attention.
I fed the problem (the error message) to a bot but gave me some jibberish back.
It is strange indeed.
