What I’m trying to do
I want to use a note with an embedded base as an extra navigation element as follows: two tab groups side by side, one has the embedded base file and the other side is where I want each file to open when I click on the links on the base.
A similar earlier request was solved when the user dragged a base file into the sidebar. The same does not work when the base file is embedded on a regular note (I want it that way so I can style the table and have several different views laid out on the same note).
Things I have tried
- Dragging the note with the embedded bases in the sidebar causes links to open as tabs in that same sidebar.
- Pinning the note and activating the target tab manually before clicking on a link works with other files but not with an embedded bases file. The links still open in whatever tab group the links are in.
The ideal solution
I would love to be able to somehow associate any note (with an embedded base or just normal links in it) with any other tab and have the links consistently open in that tab. Unless I’ve missed something, this is not currently possible. It would reduce a lot of friction when it comes to more complex workspaces.
A basic fix
If the above is not feasible at the moment, it would already help a great deal if I could do the normal workaround: pin the tab with the links, manually activate the tab where I want the link to open, then click the link and the file would open in the designated tab (not in a new tab within the same tab group like it does now).
Details
I’m using Version 1.12.6 (Installer 1.8.7) on a desktop Mac.
Sorry that this is a feature request and bug report all in one - I can make another post as a feature request if that’s better.
