Linking from a Windows document or app to a file in Obsidian

I can “Copy Obsidian URL” from the elipsis menu at top right of any file, but when I paste it anywhere in a Windows computer I get something like this -

obsidian://open?vault=Peter’s%20Obsidian%20Vault&file=Notes%2FThe%2025%20best%20free%20KONTAKT%20instruments%20in%202023%20-%20Native%20Instruments%20Blog

Apparently (I have read elsewhere) this is recognised in Mac/IOS and creates a link that opens Obsidian and takes you right to the note in Obsidian.

This does not work in Windows and I wonder if anyone knows a method to link to an Obsidian file from another app on the same Windows computer on which Obsidian is installed.

It should work as long as you’ve opened Obsidian before (which obviously you have). Using obsidian URI - Obsidian Help

I don’t know Zotero but it sounds like the links partially work? I’d guess they’re separate problems but maybe they’re connected. I would start by finding out if Obisidian’s URI scheme (may also be called URL scheme) is registered with your Windows (I don’t know how to check this, so I’d search the Web first). If it’s not, then you’ll want to figure out how to change that. It it is registered, then the problem is elsewhere.
