Additional information

I would like a way by default to always store the full path to the notes, even if there are no notes with the same name, then showing only the file name, but the full path as a tooltip.

This is confusing, as well as frightening me.

There’s a setting, New link format, that you can set to Absolute path in vault.

Could that be the issue here?

I had actually set “shortest path,” which I assumed meant the shortest path between relative and absolute.
Your method does what I need.
However I find it strange that shortest path does not show the path even if, I take the sandbox for example, in “Start here” which is in the root I create a link to “Create your first note” which is in the Guides folder

“Shortest” is wiki-style linking, so it only uses the note name unless the path is needed to distinguish 2 notes that have the same name.

Is there a way to add to the context menu of links the ability to change the way the path is saved?

I would also like to be added that it is pssible to select, as a default way of storing a link, including “shorter between absolute and relative” and “relative if it is in a subfolder, absolute otherwise” and the ability to set a global default and a default for certain folders
