Link Button Missing in Backlink Unlinked Mentions

Steps to reproduce

  1. to test I opened a new vault and clicked on the “create a link” link in the “Welcome” note so that I had 2 notes.
  2. I then typed out “create a link again” at the bottom of the “Welcome” note
  3. Then simply switch to the “create a link” note, check the Backlinks sidebar and the sentence from the previous step appears in “Unlinked Mentions” but there is no option to link that mention even after fully expanding the section until you can see all of the text in the other note.

and here is the “Welcome” note within the same vault, as you can see the button shows up as it should in the outgoing links sidebar but not the backlinks one

Update, i’ve now also tried deleting and re-downloading the AppImage so that the Installer Version is also v1.7.7 but unfortunately no improvement on the situation.

hover the mouse over the section in the sidebar, you will see a link button appear

In the screenshot sent i am hovering my mouse over the section in the sidebar, my mouse just disappears from screenshots for some reason.

My screen recordings aren’t saved in a file format that i can send here but I am quite literally doing the exact same thing with no button appearing

which system are you using exactly? hardware and os.

I’m using a linux virtual machine on an Acer R751T Chromebook that natively has ChromeOS 126.
This is my linux version info:
PRETTY_NAME=“Debian GNU/Linux 12 (bookworm)”
NAME=“Debian GNU/Linux”
VERSION_ID=“12”
VERSION=“12 (bookworm)”
VERSION_CODENAME=bookworm
ID=debian
HOME_URL=“https://www.debian.org/
SUPPORT_URL=“Debian -- User Support
BUG_REPORT_URL=“https://bugs.debian.org/

I think you virtual machine software is not passing the mouse hover events from the host to the guest. Moved to help section.

but the arrow to expand the section still appears when I hover my mouse over, I used to use this button all the time and it broke with no update to my system

If you can make this bug happen outside a VM, open a new bug report, we’ll look at it. thanks
